One may or may not like or subscribe to the ideology of Varavar Rao. But there is no reason that an octogenarian poet be put in custody as an under trial on charges which are not directly related to any heinous crime commited by him personally. That too when he has been subjected to such long spell of incarcerations earlier in his life and has been acquitted in all those cases.
All governments and political parties are silent about such atrocities. Be it Congress , BJP, TDP, TMC , SP , BJD, DMK or others. Even the self proclaimed Communists CPI and CPI (M) are not interested too much except paying lip service. That makes one wonder, how powerful this person is or how much dangerous he really is and what will be come to happen if he is set free.
I demand immediate release of Varavara Rao. My suport for him is solely based on his stature as a poet, his advanced age and failing health.
